5·12 International Nurses Day | Grand Shuyang 2026 Nursing Skills Competition Concludes Successfully

2026-05-12 09:31

On May 12, 2026, International Nurses Day, the "Safeguarding Lives · Showcasing Skills—Grand Shuyang 2026 Nursing Skills Competition," hosted by Grand Shuyang, successfully concluded at the Anzhou Plasmapheresis Center in Mianyang. Twenty-two nursing backbones from Grand Shuyang's 18 plasmapheresis centers nationwide gathered to compete fiercely in venipuncture techniques, full-process plasma collection operations and theoretical knowledge, thoroughly testing the professional competence of the plasma collection nursing team.

Closely aligned with the core work scenarios of plasmapheresis, the competition comprised two assessment parts: practical skills and theoretical knowledge. The core philosophy of "standardization, safety, and compassion" ran throughout the entire event. The practical session strictly mirrored the entire process from pre-collection preparation to plasma collection and to post-collection guidance, and focused on venipuncture as a key step. Fourteen operational metrics, including puncture site accuracy, control of needle insertion angle and depth and first-attempt success rate, were assessed against rigorous criteria, thoroughly testing nurses' technical competence and on-the-spot adaptability.

The competition valued not just technical precision, but even more the warmth of service. On-site judges explained that the donor experience was incorporated into the scoring system across three stages: pre-collection (warm reassurance and detailed explanations), during collection (real-time attention to donors' feelings during venipuncture, and full companionship), and post-collection (professional health guidance). In this framework, competitors' soft skills, such as communication style, emotional support, and humanistic care, also became important benchmarks for assessing professional competence.
