On May 1516, 2026, the 2026 Rabies Conference in China was grandly held at the Yellow River Guest House in Zhengzhou, with the theme "Joint Prevention and Control, Societal Co-governance, Fortifying Defenses, and Containing the Epidemic". The conference was co-hosted by the Chinese Preventive Medicine Association, the Chinese Association of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine, and the China Working Dog Management Association, and organized by the Rabies Prevention and Control Committee of the Chinese Preventive Medicine Association. As a leading enterprise in China offering comprehensive rabies and tetanus prevention products, Grand Life Sciences Group Co., Ltd.through its subsidiaries Grand Shuyang Life Sciences (Chengdu) Co., Ltd. and Henan Grand Biopharmaceutical Co., Ltd.was deeply involved in this grand event, collaborating with industry experts to deliberate on rabies prevention and control strategies.

Zhai Tingbao of the National Disease Control and Prevention Administration emphasized six key priorities, including source control, outbreak response, and science popularization and education. During the roundtable discussion, experts agreed that rabies prevention and control is fundamentally a social governance issue. They highlighted the critical need to expand canine vaccination coverage to 70% and recommended localized mandatory vaccination, standardized post-exposure treatment clinics, inclusion of vaccines in health insurance, and establishment of a multi-department coordination mechanism.

At the parallel session, Director Chen Qingjun from Beijing Chao-yang Hospital, Capital Medical University, delivered a presentation on "Standardized Approach to Co-prevention of Rabies and Tetanus". He emphasized that animal-induced injuries pose a dual risk of fatal infectionsrabies and tetanusand that standardized preventive measures must be implemented simultaneously. Key points include: thoroughly rinsing and disinfecting the wound for at least 15 minutes; standard administration of rabies vaccine and passive immunization preparations according to exposure classification; and promptly giving tetanus vaccine or passive immunization preparations based on the patient's tetanus immunization history and wound risk. He also proposed systematic solutions, such as implementing a "dual-purpose" clinic for dog bite treatment and tetanus care, and establishing a standardized closed-loop process (triage risk assessment wound irrigation immunization documentation follow-up). He emphasized evaluating three key indicators: wound treatment qualification rate, passive immunization utilization rate, and whole-course vaccination rate.

At this annual conference, Grand Shuyang highlighted Shuyang® Human Rabies Immunoglobulin (HRIG) and Shuyang® Human Tetanus Immunoglobulin (HTIG). Shuyang® Human Rabies Immunoglobulin is indicated for Category III rabies exposures and Category II exposures involving specific sites/populations. Its key quality control indicatorspurity, monomer and dimer content, and antibody titerall exceed both Chinese national and EU standards. The product undergoes dual-titer testing using the mouse neutralization test (MNT) and rapid fluorescent focus inhibition test (RFFIT) methods, has a safety record of over 20 years, and leads the industry in both domestic batch release volume and export volume. Shuyang® Human Tetanus Immunoglobulin rapidly provides passive immunity. Its in-house titer specification is 120 IU/mL, and its purity and other indicators exceed the standards set by the Chinese Pharmacopoeia. No skin test is required, and the standard prophylactic dose is 250 IU.

In addition, the Rabies Vaccine (Primary Hamster Kidney Cell) for Human Use (the first cell-cultured vaccine in China) developed by Henan Grand Biopharmaceutical achieves a 100% neutralizing antibody seroconversion rate at Day 14 with high safety. The CanSino-Grand Life Sciences Group's Adsorbed Tetanus Vaccine (Taitexin) is scheduled for marketing in 2026, covering the full age range of 1881 years and offering long-lasting protection.

After an animal-induced injury, the universal protocolcombining the Rabies Vaccine (Primary Hamster Kidney Cell) for Human Use with Human Rabies Immunoglobulin, and Adsorbed Tetanus Vaccine with Human Tetanus Immunoglobulinalong with the standard active and passive combined immunization procedure for Category III exposure, can prevent disease onset in nearly 100% of cases.

Through in-depth exchanges with experts, Grand Shuyang has further clarified its ultimate goal of "eliminating human rabies". Moving forward, Grand Shuyang will continue to leverage its industry-leading strengths to enhance grassroots accessibility with safe, effective, and cost-efficient solutions, collaborating with all sectors to fortify public health defenses and contribute to the "dual elimination" of rabies and tetanus.
